Under-truss lanais fail differently from pool cages. Shorter spans, so panels last longer, but the doors get used daily and the kick plates take the worst of it.

Kick plates and pets

The lower panel of a lanai door is the first thing a dog pushes through. A kick plate, or pet mesh in the bottom panel only, usually ends the problem for a fraction of a full rescreen.
